History
Modular Reel AS was established in November 2003 with basis in patents granted concerning a method for dismantling and containerization of large Offshore Installation reels.
The company has from the beginning focused on supplying cost efficient logistic solutions to all the important offshore Oil and Gas development markets throughout the world.
From the beginning all equipment designed and manufactured has been passed through a formal certification process by the reputable certifying body, Det Norske Veritas to ensure strict adherence to internationally recognized standards and rules. Through this certification, which also incorporate load testing of each individual reel, it is assured that the reels will perform in a satisfactory manner during operation.
Restructuring the company
Modular Reel AS has now reorganized its activity through a 3 party merger.
The MR Group today consists of the mother company Modular Reel AS and the 3 fully owned daughter companies, M-Reel AS, MR Services AS and Hanno Inc.
M-Reel AS (Org. no. 993 056 421) takes care of the rental business - reels and equipment.
MR Services AS (Org. no. 993 556 645) takes care of the handling, transportation, assembly & dismantling services as well as load testing of reels.
Hanno Inc. is a trading and export/import company following up the production of reels done in Korea.
The mother company Modular Reel AS got a new organization number due to the reorganization (Org. no. 992 998 148).
For practical reasons the companies will be referred to as the “MR Group”.
Our Commitment
All members of the MR Group are committed to the delivery of safe, environmentally friendly and cost efficient solutions. Focus on safety, health, environment and quality shall be the corner stone of all our actions and decisions taken.
We recognize our Clients needs and expectations and will do our outmost to meet these.
Our HSE & Quality System focuses on two elements especially. Customer Satisfaction and HSE&Q Continuous Improvement. In addition to our own Non-conformance and Corrective action system, we therefore implore on our Customers to give us experience feedback to facilitate continuous analysis of our improvement areas.
Environmental benefits
Our reels and equipment are made in such a manner that they may be used over and over again.
The concept of modularity and containerization in itself yield a high environmental saving as can be seen from a simple comparison.
Assume 12 large reels shall be shipped empty from USA to Europe. Normally this would entail securing one dedicated vessel to come and pick up at the shipping location and sail to the delivery point. Amount of CO2 and NOx and other pollutant would then be divided by the 12 reels shipped.
On the other hand, shipping of 12 M-Reels would involve shipping of up to 48 40’ containers from USA to Europe aboard a container vessel with in all around 5000 40’ containers aboard. The 12 reels CO2 and NOx contribution would be 48/5000 parts (1%) of the vessels emission.
Innovation
Our engineering group is constantly working on new and improved solutions to the use and transportation of reels. Our R&D budget is presently at more than 25% of our annual result before taxes, and will be kept high in the forseable future to ensure a sound development of new and improved products and services.
